It lies on the floor as expected. After time, the corners do start to curl up. You may want to get some fasteners if it's in a high traffic area. I can confirm it's easy to clean. Removed grease with Clorox wipes, no stains visible. We actually have a bunch of these rugs, due to our dog refusing to walk on our new vinyl flooring, which spans 3 rooms. So we have them from the kitchen through the dining room and the family room, out to the back door!
